Margaret May Perkins, aged 89, of Bloomfield, NM, passed away on October 31, 2024. Born on January 23, 1935, in Satanta, Kansas, Margaret lived a full and vibrant life surrounded by friends and loved ones who cherished her deeply. Margaret was a social butterfly, known for her active involvement in her community and her church, the First Baptist Church of Bloomfield, NM. Her Sundays were well spent with her beloved Sunday School class, and her warmth and kindness made her a beloved figure not only among her neighbors but also throughout her community.
She had a passion for collecting windmills and old barn pictures, and her love for sunflowers was evident throughout her home. Margaret enjoyed hosting and cherished the moments spent in the company of friends and family, always ensuring everyone felt at home.
Margaret is survived by her son, Roger Perkins, and his wife, Lisa; granddaughters, Torrey Silliman and her husband, Jared, and Kai Perkins; her sister, Etta Clark, niece, Teresa Pummill, and her husband, Mike; and her nephew, Riley Christian; as well as several other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Riley Perkins; brothers, Roger and Dorrel Shepard; and her parents, Thelma and Cecil Shepard.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Baptist Children's Hospital in Portales, New Mexico, a cause close to Margaret's heart. Her legacy of kindness, community involvement, and the joy she brought to every gathering will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
