Mattie Brieger

Mattie Marie Brieger, age 92, passed away in Farmington July 28, 2023. Mattie was born in San Angelo, Texas on November 28, 1930, living in various Texas communities until she moved to New Mexico in 1974. She lived in Farmington with her husband Emmet Brieger from 2016 until her passing.

Prior to moving to Farmington to be closer to family, the Briegers lived in Nogal, New Mexico beginning in 1974. Over the decades, their Nogal home was a happy place and sanctuary for her family and all the friends they took there for visits. Mattie walked in Beauty. She was a skilled cook, and very talented painter and craftsperson. Her artwork is proudly displayed in many homes of her family members.

In addition to her loving husband Emmet, Mattie is survived by sons Randy Granger and David Granger, daughters Leesa Brieger and Lucianne Brieger, daughters-in-law Leslie Granger and Cheryl Granger and son-in-law Stephen Elliott. Mattie is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren, all of whom she loved and adored.

Mattie was a true "Walk the Walk" Christian lady throughout her life. She was all about love, caring, family and treating everyone she encountered with respect, dignity and consideration.

Mattie's family will hold a private celebration of her life, which will include laughter, Bar B Q and the sharing of many priceless memories. In lieu of flowers, Mattie would be delighted with donations, in any amount, to Meals on Wheels in Farmington.
