​Max Kellywood, Sr. age 80, of Waterflow, New Mexico passed from this life on January 19, 2022, in Salt Lake City, Utah, a physical birth and a spiritual birth, a gift from God. He was born to Hubert Sr. and Irene Kellywood of Shiprock, New Mexico. Max graduated high school from Riverside Indian School in Anadarko, Oklahoma. He attended Weatherford College in Weatherford, Oklahoma, San Juan College, and Sunset Hills Baptist Bible College in Kirtland, NM. Max is a Vietnam veteran of the Vietnam War. He served honorably in the Marines, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was a Mechanical Engineer for Navajo Engineering Construction Authority and retired from Peabody Coal Mine. Max helped start several churches on the Navajo Reservation: Navajo Baptist Temple, Naschitti Baptist Church, Beclabito Baptist Church and New Hope Baptist Church. Max also served as a pastor of Fruitland Baptist Church.

Max was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Sr. and Irene Kellywood. He is survived by his wife Roseanne Kellywood, sons Max Kellywood Jr., and Jonathan Kellywood and daughter, Beulah Kellywood and grandchildren Kenny, Hannah, Kaleigh, and Kaira.

A viewing will be held January 28, 2022, at 9:00am located at Farmington Funeral Home following military honors and graveside service at Kirtland Fruitland Cemetery at 10:30am.
