Micheal Paul Fischer made his last call to duty in heaven on January 7, 2024. Micheal passed unexpectantly with his parents by his side. We brought you into this world, now we must let you go.
Micheal was born October 31, 1985, in Durango, CO to Paul and Maryilyn Fischer. Mike is survived by his parents, brother Bob Chenault (RaBecca), sister-in-law Marsha Fischer (Joseph), nieces Riley Marie, Kyler, nephews Kobe, Kayden, Keeran and great niece Hadley Kay. Various aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was raised in Farmington and graduated from Farmington High School in 2004. He then took classes at San Juan College and worked for his father at “The Body Shop” in Kirtland for 15 years. Mike then went to work for the San Juan County Detention Center as a corrections officer. There he worked with his brothers and sisters in corrections for almost 6 years before his passing. Mike loved his job, regardless of how hard and stressful it was. Mike always tried to make the best out of any situation. His brothers and sisters in corrections called him “Fish” and they knew that he always had their 6, even if it was only with a smile and a few kind words on a bad day. Mike was a well loved and respected officer and served the people of this county well.
Our gentle giant, Mike loved to go 4-wheeling, fishing, camping, and clay shooting. He didn’t like to hunt because he did not like to hurt or kill animals. Mike was our Halloween baby, and he loved all things Halloween, that were scary or spooky. He wouldn’t even allow you to take down spider webs. He loved playing any kind of card game, but especially Yu-Gi-Oh on Tuesday tournament nights with his friends.
Mike was proceeded in death by his little brother Joseph Seth Fischer, maternal grandparents LJ and Marjorie Bruce, Paternal grandparents Carl and Mildred Fischer, various aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as His very special little friend (dog) “Hoppy.”
