Nora A. Shannon, 85, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, passed away on April 11, 2025, in Bloomfield, New Mexico. Nora was born on April 3, 1940, in Gallina, New Mexico, to parents Faviana and Theodore Serrano.
Nora Shannon, the iconic “Nani” of Rio Rancho, passed away on April 11, 2025. She was surrounded by her family at her daughter’s family home in Bloomfield, New Mexico. She was a prominent figure in the community and in St. Thomas Aquinas church in Rio Rancho. She was known for her warmth, kindness, and unyielding dedication to the Lord.
Nora was born on April 3, 1940, “The Nani” discovered her passion for hairstyling and she went on to become a highly sought after hairdresser. Her talent and creativity transformed the lives of many, as she took pride in making her clients “friends” feel beautiful and confident. Nora’s Salon was a sanctuary where laughter was shared, stories exchanged, and friendships blossomed.
The Nani later in life fell in love with her beloved husband H.V. “Pat” Shannon. They lived in New York, and Oregon before moving to Rio Rancho, New Mexico. She and her beloved husband Pat Shannon were very active in the church, becoming Eucharistic ministers. She volunteered her time and talents to many local charities and St. Thomas Aquinas Church. She started The Alter Rosary Society and lead the Rosary daily for many years. Nora cherished her role as matriarch to the family, and she loved her friends as if they were family.
Nora is preceded in death by her husband H.V. Shannon (Pat), grandson Little Larry Sandoval, parents Faviana Serrano and Theodore Serrano, and brothers Tony, Juan, and Lue Serrano.
Nora is survived by her son Larry (Flora) Sandoval, daughter Terri Samora, grandchildren Senon (Lonie) Sandoval, Nikki (Bowe) Belt, Luke (Chris) Samora, and Jerid (Lexie) Samora, great grandchildren Alex, Sam, Payton, Abby, Hunter, Gunner, and Boone.
