Emblem

Oscar Kenneth Pierce, 79, of Farmington, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on April 20th, 2025, at his home.

He was born on September 8th, 1945, in Laramie, Wyoming, to Lester Vernon Pierce and Myrtle Lucille Orre.

Oscar graduated from Pocatello High School, Idaho, in 1963. He then went on to receive his associate’s degree in Meteorology, Accounting, and Information Systems. He served in the United States Air Force for 28 years, with two years in Vietnam, received a Bronze Star with Valor, and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant.

Oscar will be remembered for his hard work and dedication to the U.S. Air Force, with years of recognition for all of his efforts, which were above and beyond. He was recognized by friends and family as quick-witted with a great sense of humor. Oscar enjoyed traveling across the country to visit with family and respected veterans. A true dog lover with amazing furry companions along the way, the most recent, Kelly, will carry his love with her in her new home with familiar faces. As someone who was always dependable with the ability to adapt to any situation to create a memorable time, he could go from making the younger generations in our family laugh to bringing smiles to strangers at the checkout line in a grocery store. Oscar had a warm heart that he devoted to his Catholic faith during his final years, serving his church, Saint Mary’s, and Catholic Charities well beyond anything ever asked of him. Oscar will be forever loved and missed.

He is survived by his sisters Linda Hubbs and Barbara Magarity and brother Darol Blaine Martin, nieces Christine Dyer (Pierce) and Crystal Pierce, and great-nieces Taylorann Dyer and Prasilla Brown. He is also survived by a number of cousins, nieces, nephews, and his cherished furry companion Kelly.

Oscar was preceded in death by his beloved wife Helen Pierce, his father Lester Vernon Pierce, mother Myrtle Lucille Orre, stepmother Wanda Pierce, sister Susan Pierce, and brothers Robert and Ronald Pierce.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Regional Animal Shelter Foundation in Oscar’s memory. Donations can be made by mail at Regional Animal Shelter Foundation, PO Box 692, Farmington, NM 87499, or online at https://www.fmtn.org/772/Foundation.
