For all of us, Pat left too suddenly, too soon, and his absence is almost too much to bear. He was born in Denver, CO to Stan and Mary Vandre on February 9, 1960 and left this earth on February 29, 2020. Pat is survived by his sons, Matthew (Phoenix, AZ) and Justin (Denver, CO); stepdaughter, Jennifer (Denver, CO); five grandchildren (Denver, CO); siblings Jackie (Bob) Westlund (Westminster, CO), Tommy (Jayme) Simms (Sharpsburg, GA), Mike Vandre (MO), Toni Phelps (Bloomfield, NM), and Brenda Newlon (Bloomfield, NM) as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Raven, and his Belgium mare, Shawna.
Pat was ecstatic when another set of siblings were discovered and the first blended family reunion of Vandre’s and Simms took place in Kremmling, CO in 2001 with their Mom, Mary Simms. The next year, Pat and his sons, Jackie and her family, along with Tommy and his family took a vacation to Florida and Disney. Soon after, Pat decided to move to New Mexico and be close to his new siblings.
Pat loved his work as an HVAC specialist. He understood parts, fabrication, installation, customer service, and project management. He worked for Charles D. Jones Company in Denver for 28 years before moving to Bloomfield and worked in Farmington for Johnstone Supply and most recently, Rose Bros Heating, Cooling, & Mechanical, Inc. Pat stayed current in his field with ongoing classes and certifications and was respected by all his coworkers.
Throughout his life, Pat loved being active. He was an expert water skier, coached his sons’ hockey team, and played on an adult team in Aurora, CO. He enjoyed boating, camping, horseback riding, and family gatherings. He loved to celebrate July 4th and was always a patriot. Pat was an avid Denver Broncos fan and would help anyone with any project unless the Broncos were playing!
Pat’s quiet demeanor, his sly wit and sense of humor, his understated wisdom, his ability to fix and build most anything, and his readiness to always lend a helping hand will be remembered by everyone who was lucky to have Pat in their lives.
