Reggie Cowger, 81, of Farmington, NM, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 20, 1943, in Chicago, IL, to George Campbell and Margaret Weddle Campbell.
Reggie spent her early years in Perry, Iowa. In July 1977, she moved to Collbran, CO, where she built a life with her husband, Bill. She remained there until his passing in 1998, after which she relocated to Durango, CO, to be closer to family. In 2019, she settled in Farmington, NM, where she spent the remainder of her life.
Reggie was a kind and humble woman who formed deep and genuine connections with those around her. She had an innate ability to make friends wherever she went, effortlessly forging lasting relationships with her warm spirit and down-to-earth nature. At the age of fourteen, she received her first horse, igniting a passion for horses that stayed with her throughout her life. Her love for animals was a defining part of her life. She was especially fond of her loyal dog, Kimber, and her cockatiel, Cheerio, who were her constant companions and brought her immense joy and happiness.
Reggie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Margaret Campbell; her husband, William (Bill) Cowger; her daughter, Stacie Lynn Cowger; her son, Steven Cowger; and her brother, Burl Campbell.
She is survived by her brother, Keith Campbell; her sister, Shari Redfield (Dave); her daughter, Sandra McGee (Bruce); and her sons, Randy Cowger, William (Billy) Cowger, and Scott Cowger. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Mike McGee (Ellie), Emerald Cowger (Tony), Tracy Cowger (Mark), Jessica Micikas (Jimmy), Kirstyn McGee (Brian), Jilyane Spatola (Brandon) and Johnathan Dewitt, as well as nine great-grandchildren.
Reggie’s warmth, humor, and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A service to honor Reggie’s life will be held at Cedar Crest Cemetery in Collbran, CO, on May 24, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
