Richard Earl Nichols was born April 11, 1930 in Rural, Colorado and moved his family to Farmington, New Mexico in August of 1959. He transitioned from this life on December 13, 2018 in Farmington, New Mexico. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Alexander Nichols and Francis Ruth “Werkheiser” Nichols; wife Alice Kristeen “Peterson” Nichols; twins Kenneth Richard Nichols and Sheryl Lee Nichols; and grandson, Keith Richard Coulson.
As is a loving passionate father and grandfather, he is survived by his three daughters, 4 granddaughters, 9 grandsons, and 14 great grandchildren. His family loved getting together and spending time together. He was an amazing dad full of kindness and generosity.
He enjoyed serving as a member of the Farmington Elks Club, Farmington Lions Club, Single Action Shooting Society, Good Sam’s Motor Home Group, National Rifle Association, National Educators Association, National Army Reserves Korean War Veteran, San Juan Regional Medical Center Board Member, Business Owner and Board Member of Mesa Drug and Medical Incorporated. He retired from Farmington Municipal Public School System in 1988 and was an active church member.
He was loved by family friends and community members and will always be remembered for his smile and his great sense of humor (Nichols Humor). Please join us for his service. His home going service will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 2:00 PM under the direction of Farmington Funeral Home, 2111 West Apache Street, Farmington, New Mexico.
