Rita LaPlante

In Loving Memory of Rita M. LaPlante.

Rita M. LaPlante, passed away at the age of 78, on Monday, October 2, 2023 at her home in Farmington, NM. She was born in Bisti, NM on January 10, 1945. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and cherished member of our community. Rita was a long time teacher of the Navajo language in various schools, in Farmingotn Municipal School District and on the Navajo Nation. Rita enjoyed spending time with her family, beading jewelry, summertime, and loved teaching the Navajo language to children.

Rita was preceded in death by her brother, Peter Charley, her son , Marco G. LaPlante, and her daughter, Tina M. Walters.

She is survived by her husband Walter G. LaPlante, her three granddaughters, Lauren M. Steveson, Iris C. Blythe, and Amira T. Walters, and her sister Bessie A. Sherwood.
