Robert Edlund "Padre Bob" Tedrow, 75, of Aztec, died on Wednesday, December 13, 2017. “Padre Bob’ was born in Bloomington, Illinois on April 13, 1942 to Marvin and Donna Tedrow. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Yuma, Arizona where he grew up. Upon graduation from Yuma High School, Bob attended the University of Arizona, Tucson before transferring to Biola University in La Mirada, California. He was a four-year letterman in NCAA soccer. Bob graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. He then received a Master of Arts degree in History from Cal State Long Beach.
Bob was called to ministry and attended Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He received a Master of Divinity and was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A..) in 1976. He served congregations in Centerville, Iowa, Belen, New Mexico and Farmington, New Mexico. In 1992, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. He moved to Aztec, New Mexico in 2006 where he pursued a writing career.
Bob enjoyed golf, tennis, fly-fishing, and the mountains around Rico, Colorado. Bob was an avid reader, loved Country-Western music and Western movies. He loved working on his son Rick’s political campaigns. He loved his pets and attending his grandchildren’s sports activities.
While he was an only child, Bob introduced the world to his imaginary older brother, Tom. Tom was a source of hilarity for six decades. Tom’s last known whereabouts – according to Bob when he was in the first grade – was that he was riding off into the sunset to serve his country as a cowboy. Tom’s whereabouts are still unknown.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Donna. He is survived by son Robert Patrick "Rick" Tedrow and wife Barbara Luna Tedrow of Farmington, daughter Tricia Linae Tedrow of San Antonio, Texas. Grandchildren Robert McKinley Tedrow, Madison Nicole Tedrow and Jacob Jefferson Patrick Tedrow, all of Farmington.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Aztec Presbyterian Church, 205 N. Church in Aztec, Reverend Michelle Goff officiating. Pall Bearers are Robert McKinley Tedrow, Madison Nicole Tedrow and Jacob Jefferson Patrick Tedrow. Honorary Pallbearers are William Marty, Kenneth Flurry and Marty Steffan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Aztec Presbyterian Church.
