Rodney Michael “Mike” Sickenger passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the age of 76. Mike was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and brother in Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Ann Sickenger.

Mike was born October 17, 1947, in Stockton, California, He was the fourth of six children born to Rodney Shalor and Lottie Bell Sickenger. Mike is preceded in death by his parents and two older sisters, Barbara Vaccarezza and Betty Chenowth, respectively. He is survived by one remaining older sister Roberta Yeoman (widowed), and younger brothers Wesley (Dorinda) and Wayne (Cindy) Sickenger.

He married MaryAnn Hoesch May 31, 1974, in the Boque Farms Church of Christ. They were married for 49 years. Mike and MaryAnn were blessed with two surviving children, Amanda Mae Sickenger and Michael “Dave” Sickenger and three surviving grandchildren, Michael Sickenger, Dylon Rock, and Matthew Sickenger.

Mike was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1967-1969 in Germany and Vietnam.

Moving to Farmington, New Mexico in 1981, Mike spent his career as a journeyman, retiring with the Public Service Company of New Mexico. Mike was a master craftsman and woodworker. He spent his adult life traveling across the US, attending miniature shows to showcase and sell his woodwork and glasswork. His pieces were in demand by vendors across the United Stated and he continued to ship orders until his passing.

Mike served the Lord joyously as an Elder with the Churches of Christ in Farmington. He has served as a preacher at churches in Shiprock and Hogback. He was a shepherd, caregiver and a brother in Christ to countless members and others in need.

In the arms of Jesus, he now finally rests eternally. “Well done thy good and faithful servant.”

Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Farmington Church of Christ, 401 W. 20th St, Farmington, New Mexico.
