Ruby M. Hudgins
Mother’s life began on July 18, 1916 in Sayre, Oklahoma. She was one of eleven children born to Walter Newton Goodwin and Zodell Potter Goodwin.
On January 26, 1937 she married the love of her life Howard Hudgins in Olton, Texas. There were four children born Delores, Fred, Ramona and Gary. They moved with a toddler to Farmington in 1939, seeking a better life than cotton farming.
Mother was a homemaker and worked hard taking care of her family. She canned and froze fruits and vegetables from her garden. She loved all of nature especially mountains, birds, flowers and rocks. Mother loved to paint mountains and continued to paint until the end. Her hobbies were square dancing, crocheting and ceramics. Her favorite foods were pizza and biscuits and gravy. She was the happiest when all the family was together.
Mother was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was also a member of San Juan Rebekah Lodge for 72 years.
Our dad preceded her in death on Jan 4, 1977. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law Jim Marquis, daughter-in-law Maxine Hudgins and son-in-law Bill Pate as well as ten brothers and sisters. She is survived by two sons Fred Hudgins of Aztec and Gary Hudgins and wife Jean of Farmington. Also surviving are two daughters, Delores Marquis and Ramona Pate of Farmington. She leaves nine grandchildren Audrey Evins, Jim Marquis (Janet), Leslie Marquis, Brenda Liesse (John), Brian Hudgins (Angela), Rhonda Pate, Mark Pate (Sherry), Chase Hudgins (Becky) and Nicole Wheeler (Michael). She is also survived by 17 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 6th at 1pm at Farmington Funeral Home, 2111 W. Apache with Pastor Steve Bellew of Emmanuel Baptist Church officiating. Pallbearers will be her Grandsons.
Our Family would like to thank Helen and the ladies at Beehive Homes for over three years of caring and concern. We would also like to thank the nurses and staff at LifeCare for their loving care these last few weeks.
