Ruby graduated high school in Ignacio, Co. and began nursing at Mercy Hospital before a license was needed. She received her LPN license at the age of 50. Ruby was a school nurse in Bloomfield, N.M. for 10 years; where she started working at ‘Good Samaritan’ (also known as ‘Good Sam’s’) during summer breaks. Ruby worked for ‘Good Sam’s’ until she suffered a stroke at age 75. She became a resident of ‘Good Sam’s’ until her passing. Ruby’s hobbies included fishing and traveling to visit relatives. On many of these trips she took her grandchildren; who she adored. Each of her grandchildren had a special place in her heart. Ruby loved going to the casino, especially with her gambling friend, Nancy. Ruby is proceeded in death by her loving husband, Joe G. Perez, son James D. Perez, daughters Margret T. Perez and Ruby Jo Calderon, parents Ben and Soriada Gutierrez, brothers Levi Archuleta, Orlando Gutierrez, Ross Archuleta and Rudy Gutierrez, Sister Angie Perez, grandfather and grandmother Cordova. Ruby is survived by; daughter Debra K Miller (Allen Owen), sister Theresa Baines (Lemont), Grandchildren; David (Rachel) Perez, Adam (Emily) Miller, Sydney Miller, Ashley Entrup, Gabriela Calderon and 18 great grandchildren. Services for Ruby will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomfield, N.M. on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 10:30am. A reception will follow the service at St. Mary’s Parish Hall in Bloomfield, N.M. Memorial funds and donations may be made to: Ruby Perez Fund c/o David and Racheal Perez.
