Rubita "Ruby" Celia Powers passed away on December 9, 2022. She was born to Eugene and Senida Silva in Mancos, Colorado on July 14, 1924. She was the oldest of 10 siblings. She had 4 sisters and 6 brothers.
On February 3, 1954 she married the love of her life, Floyd Powers. Together they raised 2 boys (Garrell and Tommy) and 2 girls (Twila and Cecilia). They enjoyed 64 years of marriage until Floyd passed away on February 6, 2018. Throughout their marriage, they always worked together as entrepreneurs in the Farmington area. In their free time, they enjoyed camping and fishing. After they retired, they also enjoyed spending the winters in Arizona and especially going to Quartzite for the annual flea market. Ruby loved listening and dancing to Spanish music. We often found her dancing away in her living room. A family tradition was to play games when together. She loved playing card games and with dice. She would have daily card games with her daughters and sister. Ruby’s family expanded to five generations including her grandchildren, great grandchildren and recently great, great grandchildren.
Psalms 90:10 says “The span of our life is 70 years, or 80 if one is especially strong.” Ruby lived until 98 years of age and she was among those who are considered “especially strong”. She survived breast cancer, a broken hip from a fall, pacemakers, and minor strokes. We jokingly called her our “Energizer Bunny”. We will miss her terribly, but we look forward to the promise found in Revelation 21:4 where it says “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither will there be any more pain: for the former things have passed away.” We know we will see her again. “And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead.” ACTS 24:15
