Samantha Eve Farmer, 39, brilliant programmer, beloved partner, and proud transgender woman, died on July 7, 2022.
Samantha was an adamant atheist. She never believed in any afterlife or religion, but she believed in other important things.
Sam believed that the code she wrote, at work and at home, was art. She believed that every technical problem had an elegant solution in the right hands, usually hers.
Sam believed in honesty, even when it was inconvenient or unpleasant. She believed in the sanctity of quiet nights awake with her own thoughts until they became quiet mornings.
She believed she would find the home and belonging she was searching for, and she did, after many tries, in Oakland, California. She is survived by so many loved ones who will cherish her memory on cozy indoor days and bright afternoons, in late night conversations and grumpy morning meetings.
After a lifetime of doubt, of truths not ready to be spoken or heard, she finally believed in herself. She was brave, always. She was deeply loved, and she died on her biggest adventure. While it took Samantha many years to find her own truth, she finally believed that she deserved to be happy. And she was.
