At age 5, the family moved to Modesto, CA. where she grew up and graduated from Grace Davis High School in 1969. She was an Art major in college in Sonora, CA and then in Morro Bay, CA. That is where she met the love of her life, Doug on Valentine's Day in 1979, where they were later married in 1980 and where their son, Dustin, was born. Spending many years in beautiful Cloudcroft, NM, Shannon was the elementary and middle school secretary for over 20 years, becoming lifelong friends with many students and staff. Her business was Shannon's Backporch Originals and she gifted and donated many of her special works. She also sold her creations at art shops, like Off the Beaten Path in Cloudcroft and many craft fairs in Farmington. She had a deep love for animals of all kinds, they always had dogs and cats in their home. Her black lab Jenny was her flower girl at their wedding. Shannon had a passion for swimming. She did not let her Oxygen issues stop her. She swam as often as she could & swimming with her O2 tank alongside her in her floaty. She so loved being Nana to her grandsons, Davis and Grady. Shannon always had arts and craft projects set up for them on their visits. When her health allowed, you would always see her cheering them on at their sport events. Her love of her close-knit family, many friends, students, and the community, was felt by all who knew her. She will be so missed by us all.
