Shelley Lou McKinney

Shelley Lou Mckinney of Aztec, NM passed away on July 2, 2024. She was born to Paul Leland Smith and Irene Lucille Smith on May 10, 1954, in Cortez, CO.

Shelley has lived in the Four Corners all her life, she was born in Cortez, Co, and moved to Farmington, NM in High School. She has lived in San Juan County since then. Shelley loved spending time with her family and chihuahuas. She was a Girl Scout Leader in Farmington for many years and took numerous girls to camp. She went to San Juan College where she received a bachelor's of Paralegal and was on the dean’s list throughout college. She has worked at Walmart, Giant Industries, Bloomfield Senior Center, and as a Lunch-Aid at McKinley Elementary. She collected chihuahuas (Live and Figurines) and enjoyed doing diamond painting, ceramics, and plastic canvas. She loved her life with her partner Herman and all their animals. Shelley will be missed immensely by her family and friends. Her loved ones surrounded Shelley when she went to be with the Lord.

Shelley is preceded in death by her Parents Paul Leland Smith & Irene Lucille Smith, Grandparents Bertie America Bane, Clarence Smith, Dora & James Chadd and son-in-law Mark Schrock.

Shelley is survived by her Significant Other/Partner Herman Valdez, Son Micheal Paul McKinney(Rhonda), and Daughters Johnnie Sue Atkinson (Chris), and Billie Jo Miller (Paul). Brother Clyde Smith (Leora). Sister Beveraly Pepin (Harold-Deceased). Grandchildren Shaylee Schrock (Brady Morgan), Deidra Padilla (TJ), Luc Schrock, Keith Miller (Perla), Tristan Atkinson, Ashley Miller (Ruben), and Daniel Miller. Great Grandchildren Kylie, Dominic, Miles, Madi, Paxton, Camden, Kooper, Kohen, and Taylor.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Monday, July 29, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 902 W. Blanco Blvd, Bloomfield, New Mexico 87413.
