Sidney Bates

Sidney Ray Bates, 85 of Aztec, NM passed away peacefully at home on 12-02-2022 with his family by his side. He was born in Brady, Texas 9-12-1937 to Sidney W. and Ruth L. Bates (Parker). In later years, he moved with his parents to Aztec, NM where he lived the remainder of his life.

He was an extremely gifted truck driver and was respected by all who were fortunate enough to be trained by him. He loved watching western movies, listening to old country music, and playing guitar.

Sidney's other interests included playing dominoes, 42, and hearts. He rarely lost. His last few years he spent much of his time tinkering with computers.

He was preceded in death by his wife Deborah (Debbie) Bates Nee Roquemore, daughter Barbara Lynn Bates, granddaughter Ashley Brooke Ortega, grandson Wade Randall Moore jr. and son-in-law Lawrence P. Owen.

He is survived by his children, Darla Cantrell of Farmington, NM, Jimmy Bates (Maxcine) of Albuquerque, NM, Linda Owen of Farmington, NM, Patricia Bates Moore of Aztec, NM, and Charlotte Parker (Wade) of Aztec, NM. 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

At daddy's request, there will not be a public viewing or memorial service. He is under the care of Farmington Funeral Home where cremation will take place.
