Thomas Burch Howard, 87, of Bloomfield, passed away April 19, 2018. He was born January 4, 1931 in Abilene, Texas to Thomas & Olena Howard. He served proudly in the Korean War - U.S Air Force.
Thomas graduated from Graham High School and went to Fort Lewis College, then earning his B.A & M.A at Adam State College in Alamosa, CO. He worked as a teacher and principal for the Bloomfield School District for 26 years, He was also the sports commentator for the Bloomfield Bobcats for 28 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield, the Masonic Lodge in Aztec, and the VFW. He also served on the Bloomfield Planning & Zonning Committee. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, and leatherwork.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Olena Howard and his sister Glenda Gayle Moore.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Nellie Howard; son, Bill (Shari) Howard; daughters, Bobbie (Frank) Anderson and Brenda (Virgil) McDonald; brother-n-law, Earl (Jack) Moore; grandchildren, Erin (Brian) Chaffe, Chris McDonald, Travis (Nadia) Anderson, Nathan McDonald, Thomas Howard, Lauren Howard; great-grandchildren John, Jason, Franklin, and Beau.
There will be a viewing on Monday, April 23, 2018 at Farmington Funeral Home from 5-7pm. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 10am at The First Baptist Church in Bloomfield. Interment will follow at the Elco Cemetery in Bondad where military honors will be performed by the VFW.
