Tommie Sue Gipson, age 91 of Farmington, NM, passed away on Tuesday February 13, 2024. She was born on January 14, 1933, in Ovalo, Taylor County, Texas, to the late H. D. and Flora Steakley.
Sue graduated from Novice High School in 1951 and moved to Farmington in 1957 during the oil and gas boom. She was involved in the local banking industry for over 40 years. She always looked forward to springtime to plant flowers and loved baking a wonderful chocolate cake.
After retirement she enjoyed her coffee group, playing bridge, and serving on community organizations.
Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Quinton "Cotton" Gipson, in 2009, her brother Howard Steakley, and her sister Billie Jean Allen.
Surviving are her son and daughter in law James and Mary Ann Gipson; her grandchildren Jeremy (Amber) Gipson and Jennifer (Dustin) Morrow; and her great grandchildren Quinn and Zeke Gipson, and Owen, Rhett, and Molly Morrow. Also surviving is her brother Len (Jane) Steakley and sister Jerri Ann Sterling, nieces and nephews.
Viewing and Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 3:00 to 4:00 pm at Farmington Funeral Home, 2111 W. Apache St., Farmington, NM.
Memorial services will be Wednesday February 21, 2024, at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church, 865 N. Dustin Ave. Farmington, NM, following a private graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice.
