Vadna Mae Nix (née Banks), affectionately known as Peanut, was called Home to be with the Lord on June 17, 2024, in Farmington, New Mexico. Born on May 10, 1951, in Farmington, New Mexico, she was a cherished member of the community, known for her hardworking, loving, and at times, stubborn nature.
Vadna dedicated her early career to work for Big A, where she was valued for her diligence in chasing parts, ensuring operations ran smoothly. She later transitioned to serving in the cafeterias of Aztec schools, nurturing countless students with both food and kindness.
Family was the cornerstone of Vadna's life. She is survived by her granddaughter, her pride and joy, Darby Simmons, sons, Mikey (Joletta) Nix, Michael Sharski and Jerry Sharski. She also leaves behind her loving sisters, Patricia Cochrane, Georgia (Larry) Land, and Beulah (Dan) Hartzell, along with grandchildren Danika, Abbi, and Freya Nix. As well as many nieces and nephews.
Vadna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mike Nix, her daughter, Priscilla Helms, her sister, Linda Escobar, and her brothers, Kenneth and Wesley Banks, as well as her parents, George and Betty Banks.
Spending time with friends and family was Vadna’s top priority and favorite pastime, a testament to her loving and nurturing spirit. In her younger days, you could catch her outside working alongside Mike in the yard, yard-selling around town with her girlfriends, or in the kitchen making her famous Pink Burritos.
Graveside services for Vadna and her late husband Mike will be held on July 13, 2024. Mike and Vadna were married in the Spring of 1991 and were married for almost 28 years before his untimely passing in January of 2018. Mike will be laid to rest with his beautiful wife at Aztec Cemetery.
Farmington Funeral Home in New Mexico is assisting the family with arrangements. Further details of the service will be announced, honoring both their lives and legacies.
