Vayola Vigil, 90, of Farmington, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 5, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 3, 1935, in Tres Piedras, New Mexico, to Catalina and Eli Herrera, Vayola was a shining example of dedication, hard work, and selflessness. As a single mother, she raised six children and inspired countless others with her remarkable spirit. Vayola's impact on her community will be deeply missed, particularly her hospitality and waitressing, which reflected her generous heart. She is survived by her children, Velma (Danny), Ramos, Veronica, Grace, Jeannette Vigil, and Marion Martinez, as well as three siblings, 66 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, one son-in-law, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Vayola's legacy will live on through her family and the countless lives she touched. Funeral services will be held at Farmington Funeral Home on Thursday, March 13, with a rosary and viewing at 4 PM. A viewing and rosary will also take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, March 14, at 9 AM, followed by a Mass at 10 AM, with Father Jeff presiding. Vayola will be laid to rest beside her son, with a luncheon following at the Sacred Heart Parish Center.
