Velma Muns

Velma Ann Muns passed away November 24, 2023, at her home in Las Vegas, NV. Velma was preceded in death by her parents Reuben and Mildred Jordan, brothers Harley, Sid and a sister Suzy. She is survived by her brother Dan of Rio Rancho, NM and sister Leona of Rozet, WY and many nieces and nephews.

Velma was born December 20, 1946, in Farmington, NM. and was raised in Bloomfield, where she graduated from high school in 1964. She met her husband, George at the Bloomfield Methodist Church. They were married in 1965 and moved to Los Angeles, CA. She was the ultimate beach girl, and loved going to the many beaches in LA. They moved back to NM in 1972 where Velma worked at Farmers Market for a number of years and has many friends from that time. They adopted their son Levi while in Bloomfield. They later bought a home in Las Vegas in 1988, where her husband George worked as chemist for Unocal's Molycorp Rare Earth Mine. Velma worked for Albertson's grocery and was a great supporter of the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation as well as the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation. Velma was fun-loving, outgoing, and beloved by all the younger family members. She never met a stranger. She and George had many lifelong friends throughout their 58 years of marriage.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at the Bloomfield Methodist Church in Bloomfield, NM on Wednesday December 6th, 2023. Burial will take place directly after services at Bloomfield Cemetery, Bloomfield NM.
