Warren Earl Lake, 83, of Waterflow, NM, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024, in Farmington, NM, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on May 29, 1939, in Phoenix, AZ, to Cora Elizabeth Trembell and Robert Lake.
After attending Albuquerque High School, Warren bravely joined the Army at just seventeen, beginning a life of service and commitment. He later married the love of his life, Martha, and together they created a beautiful family, blending their lives and their three children each. Their love story spanned forty-two wonderful years.
Warren, affectionately known as "Grubby," had a profound love for the great outdoors, often expressing that it was there he felt closest to his Creator. Whether he was fishing by a serene lake, hunting in the crisp mountain air, or cheering at a NASCAR race, his heart thrived in nature's embrace. Above all, Warren cherished the time spent with his family and friends.
After a short time in the service, he was employed as an upholster for several years before becoming a well-known Sheetmetal worker until his retirement, earning respect and admiration from colleagues and clients alike. He approached life with a strong work ethic and a warm smile, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Warren was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha, and his daughter, Cindy Lake, along with his dear parents. He leaves behind a loving family that includes his sons, Craig Lake and Sean Lake; stepson Kenneth Lerke; stepdaughter Annette Woener; and Karrie Lake-Everett, as well as several wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Warren's life, honoring the kindness and joy he brought to so many, will be held on October 5, 2024, at 1:00 pm at the Locust Picnic Ground in Oak Flats Sandia Ranger District. Let us remember Warren for his gentle heart, his unwavering love, and the beautiful memories he created with all of us.
