Wendell "Dwayne" Lillywhite of Aztec, NM passed away at his home on June 24, 2023, surrounded by family after years of fighting chronic pain.
Dwayne was born on September 24, 1946, to Frank and Mavis Lillywhite in Farmington, NM. He was raised in Aztec, which is where he met his wife, Christy, and where they raised their 3 children. Dwayne had a reputation as a jokester, but he also had a heart of gold and had a great love for his family and friends.
Dwayne was no stranger to hard work - he grew up working on his family's dairy farm, owned and operated a service station, and worked for many years at Dial Oil Co to support his family. Even after retirement, he was always finding side projects to keep himself busy. When he wasn't working, Dwayne enjoyed hunting, spending time with family (including pets), napping on a patch of green grass, and drinking Mountain Dew.
Dwayne is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mavis Lillywhite, and his granddaughters, Evangeline and Daphne Gates. Dwayne is survived by his wife Christy; his children Jon Lillywhite, Justin Lillywhite (Jennifer), Summer Gates (Will), and Corinne Stephenson-Reed (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Ivy and Maeve Lillywhite, Maddie and Emmie Lillywhite, and Quinn Gates; and his siblings Hal Lillywhite (Merlene); Janice Travisano (Tom); Loyd Lillywhite (Jaynann), and Cliff Lillywhite (Lila).
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 30th, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Aztec, NM. There will be a public viewing beforehand at 10:30 AM.
