Wilbert John

Wilbert John, “Junior” as many knew him as, passed from this life on April 22,2024 in Upper Fruitland. He was born on May 22,1941 in Gallegos, New Mexico to the late Wilbert John Sr. and Ida Myers.
Wilbert was an avid farmer in the Upper Fruitland area. He spent a lot of time outdoors whether it be farming or hunting deer and elk with friends and family. He was also known for being a great pool shark and was a member of various pool leagues in the Farmington area.
Wilbert worked for BHP Billiton for 35 years. He retired in 2002 as a heavy equipment operator. He was a master operator with the front end loader, loading coal trucks and trains.
The happiest moments in life were spent with his daughter and eating breakfast at various Farmington restaurants where he was well known. Wilbert is survived by his daughter Laurette John of Albuquerque, sister Betty Cummings of Tahlequah Oklahoma, brother James John of Aztec, and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and many friends.
Graveside services will be held Friday April 26, 2024, at the Kirkland/Fruitland cemetery at 2pm.
