William Lyell DuTremaine

September 21, 1966 — September 9, 2024

Farmington

A man known for his quick wit, infectious laughter, and an uncanny ability to make friends with anyone, has finally decided to take a permanent vacation to avoid another stolen election. We are comforted by the fact that he’s now on an eternal quest to uncover the ultimate truth, probably involving an elaborate conspiracy theory about heavenly cloud formations. Billy was always convinced that something bigger was at play- and he was always eager to share his “evidence” with anyone who’d listen. Billy’s way of doing things might not always have been conventional, but it sure was entertaining. His easy charm and relentless curiosity made him a beloved character in the community and with anyone who crossed his path. He was known to turn any dull event into a lively discussion on the merits of time travel, or the poor quality of the staged moon landing. He was always making people laugh, spreading kindness like confetti. Billy’s family and friends will remember him fondly, not just for his eccentricities and towering presence, but for his generous heart, his head of hair that could be seen from miles away, and the way he made everyone feel like they were the most important person in the room. He might be gone, but his stories, theories, and outsized personality will continue to make people smile- just as he always intended.

He leaves behind Kim, his wife of 18 years, who may finally get to enjoy a quiet evening without Billy’s ongoing commentary on the state of the world or his unsolicited advice on food storage. I hope this brings a smile to your face while honoring Billy’s memory. Billy leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and a reminder to always be kind. He also leaves his greatest accomplishment, Schuyler “Sweet Baby Angel” Rose DuTremaine, his loving family, countless friends, and a community that will forever remember his generosity and humor. In his honor, let’s all strive to be a little kinder, laugh a little louder, and be our best selves. Rest in peace Billy- may your theories always be as wild as you imagined, and may you forever find new friends on the other side.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents James Joseph & Rose Marie DuTremaine. He is survived by his wife Kim DuTremaine, daughter Schuyler Rose DuTremaine; bonus children Zach (Stefani) Gurley, Chelsea Gurley, Alex Gurley; 7 grandchildren, Lyrix, Jeter, Maddux, Richie, Ian, Harley and Zella.
